Santa Cruz Speed and Custom was founded by Joe McGlynn, a self-proclaimed "metal fabricator geek".
Joe was born in the midwest, where new cars begin to rust before they leave the dealership. He always assumed that buying a car involved a trip to the DMV and a weekend in the shop fabricating floors and quarter panels.
After moving to the bay area in the early 90's Joe set up shop and spent his spare time abusing metal in a variety of ways. No one was surprised when he set up a coal forge and power hammer in his driveway in the heart of Silicon Valley and started forging custom knives. Except perhaps the fire department, but they got over it. Several hot rod and custom projects later he started our sister company Crime Scene Choppers, a custom bike shop that manufactures unique vintage-styled parts.
